Hello, my friends, and welcome to A Home Within.
This has been on my heart for a long time, and I am so glad to finally share it with you. If you’re feeling drawn to live with more intention, to shape a home that feels calm and meaningful, and to connect more deeply with yourself and the life you’re creating, then you’re in the right place.
It feels like just the right moment to reintroduce myself… I’m Maddy.
I wear a handful of creative hats: content creator, writer, integrative coach, wellness facilitator, designer/stylist, narrator, and storyteller! This is the place where all of those threads gather. Where my love for home, wellbeing, and a thoughtful, intentional way of living come together.
This space is simply an extension of the way I move through the world, a place to create, to reflect, and to offer something steady and meaningful. It’s here to support you as you live with intention, stay close to what matters, and make room for the things that ground you and bring you joy! Think of it as a calm, inviting corner where you can settle in with a cup of tea in hand, let the noise fall away, and find a little home within. Through storytelling, audio narrations, coaching insights, and my everyday applied purposeful practices, this creative platform will provide mindful tools to help bring more calm, clarity and connection into your everyday life.
Noticing the relationship between our inner and outer homes, how the way we live, the choices we make, and the spaces around us shape our days. Not through grand gestures, but through gentle, considered shifts that make everyday life quietly beautiful.
Creating and communicating has always been shaped by both my life experiences and my love for words and visuals. Despite being blessed with dyslexia, I am a deeply introspective, philosophical thinker, curious and drawn to sharing ideas through stories, images, my voice and the written word.
What was once considered my greatest obstacle has, through sheer tenacity, creativity, and belief, become a channel for expression. Words have found me. If you know me from my online platforms, it might be through voiceovers on reels, fleeting thoughts shared in stories, captions that spill into the comments, or pages filled with reflection in posts, newsletters, and even weekly audio notes that offer a glimpse into my creativity.
And yet, even with all these ways of sharing, it’s still not quite enough. I am brimming with what I want to offer you, the ideas, the insights, the ways I feel called to grow personally, and the ways I hope to serve you more fully. My hope is that my words and voice can accompany you, offering inspiration as you move from simply knowing what matters to truly living it, savouring the beauty in everyday moments, and joining a like-minded community as you weave intention and care into your daily life.
This next step isn’t just about where I share. It’s about having space that feels slower, more intentional, and more supportive and private than social media ever could, a place where I can be present and truly real with you, and where we can explore the things that hold real meaning, together.
I believe wholeheartedly that every person carries a story worth telling. Our homes are living reflections of that story, revealing what we value, who we are, and how we move through the world, not through trends or perfection, but through the choices we make every single day. Every object we choose to decorate with, every item of clothing we buy and wear as part of our identity, every habit we act on, every thought we circulate, every routine quietly speaks: some connect us to our truest selves, others pull us away. Our beliefs shape our wellbeing; our daily rhythms, whether we notice them or not, echo what we prioritise.
Life will always offer stories, sometimes wild, sometimes tender. These stories can shape us, guiding our growth and our connection to the world, or they can define us, limiting our vision of who we might become. The choice, as always, is ours.
My story began in the heart of the English countryside, where rolling hills, wheat fields, ancient oaks, and fruit orchards were my norm. A decade ago, I traded that landscape for the beaches, palms, and sand dunes of sunny Australia, the place that has since become home for my two children. The merging of these two worlds has shaped so much of who I am and the story I hold dear: the depth and rootedness of my British beginnings, and the expansive, light-filled openness of the Australian coast. Both hold pieces of me, and both continue to guide my journey of becoming.
For years, I tried to fit myself into a single version of who I thought I should be, what the world told me made sense. But becoming authentically “you” often asks you to unlearn those narrow expectations. It asks you to embrace every strength, befriend every weakness, and hold your story with compassion as you move through this wild, unfolding journey we call life. Many of us seem to be born with an endless curiosity, a creative spark, and a tendency to move between many interests and ideas. We don’t thrive in straight lines or neat boxes; we thrive in the weaving together of many threads, each one adding texture, depth, and meaning to who we are. And I found that when I stopped trying to fit, life began to settle into its own gentle, natural rhythm.
My career has never followed a conventional path, and I’ve come to see that as one of my greatest strengths. From London based interior designer and stylist, to becoming a mumma, a creative and wellness business owner, content creator and integrative coach, I’ve embraced roles that challenged me, stretched me, and taught me how to turn vision into reality. Each experience has added another thread to the tapestry of my life, revealing new ways I’m meant to create, serve, and grow.
The truth is, every curiosity, every skill, every chapter of your life shapes the woman you are today. When we root ourselves in what Is known to be true, the pieces begin to merge into a life that feels honest, aligned, and unmistakably your own. For me, it has taken decades to arrive here, but now no matter where I plant my feet, I carry a deep sense of home within. This is what I want for you, and this is the heart of what ‘A Home Within’ offers.
When Ben and I bought our first home, what many of you know as Hutchinson House, and, I might add, once considered the “worst house on the best street” — we didn’t see what was broken. We saw the possibility. With my design perspective, our shared love of detail, and his self-taught craftsmanship, we spent eight years reshaping it into a home that felt like us: peaceful, lived-in, and deeply intentional for our family.
Through mistakes, discoveries, and small and large triumphs, we learned that it wasn’t just about renovating a house. It was about allowing the process to shape us, soften us, and teach us how to build a life that truly feels like home.
The garden’s growth became a living metaphor to face my own striving and the turmoil within, a reminder that life, like nature, cannot be controlled.
Like a rotting root that must be pulled or a wilting plant in need of care, I began to notice the signs I had long been ignoring.
The final years of restoring our home and garden became a mirror for tending to myself, to the root causes in my body causing chronic inflammation and anxiety, the honest disconnection from my motherland, the tangled weeds in the garden of my mind, and the layers of my story waiting to be heard, healed, and replanted. In that process, I realised something fundamental: the gap isn’t in knowing what we want; it is in moving from intention into everyday life. I valued Intentional living, but I wasn’t living it! When we truly care for ourselves with the same attention we give to a home or a garden, our values, habits, and choices begin to fall into place, creating a life that feels fully lived, grounded, and whole.
I’ve realised that a home within is less about building something new and more about returning to a familiar, cosy, and calm place we may once have been disconnected from. Our lives are shaped by the choices we make each day, the habits we nurture, the beliefs we carry, and the actions we take. Left unattended, small weeds can quietly take root, leaving us feeling off balance and out of sync, giving us the choice to mask and perform or to pause and be present. When we pause, notice, and tend to our inner garden, the rocks can be moved, the soil renewed, and new seeds planted, seeds that, over time, grow and flower in ways we can’t yet imagine.
Through this process, I have learned to live a life more intentionally, not by fighting my natural drives, but by leaning into them, noticing them, and allowing them to guide me in a way that honours who I am and the person I am becoming, a way of living that has been intended since biblical times.
Through my work in creative platforms, design, mindfulness (MBSR), and online coaching, I’ve had the privilege of guiding people worldwide to create lives and homes that reflect their truest selves, beautiful, value-aligned, intentional, and seen through an integrative, holistic lens. Everything is connected, and when one area feels off, it often signals where attention is needed.
Though each path is uniquely our own, we all long to feel at home, within ourselves, in our surroundings, and in the life we lead. By honouring this inner work and leaning into curiosity, awareness, and gentle listening, transformation, joy, and beauty begin to unfold naturally.
Welcome, my friend, to A Home Within. Pour yourself a cup of tea, settle in and get cosy.
